i just got back from Osaka. what a nice place to visit. the place where the road is almost empty and deserted, but underground in the subway, millions of people rushing here, there and everywhere!
March is the month i’ve been waiting for, will be traveling to Koh Samui. problem is, how to get to Koh Samui from Kuala Lumpur at the most value fare? direct air fare seems to be quite costly to buy in the last minute, definitely not a good travel idea. train and bus ride in other hand will take a day to get there. if you have any suggestions, do let me know.
the last time i check, the air fare to Koh Samui direct from Subang airport with Firefly is about RM900 return.
for the time being, the idea is to take a train from KL to Hat Yai that would cost me only about RM100 for return tickets, and from there i can take a few hours bus ride to Koh Samui about the rate of RM50 return, inclusive of boat transfer to the island. total cost is roughly RM150 return.
this is the cheapest way i can think of, however the total journey would be more than 20 hours!
an alternative for me is to take Airasia fare from KL to Hat Yai which will cost me RM300 for return fare, and then continue with the bus ride to Koh Samui. total cost is roughly about RM350 return. with only RM200 difference, i save 14 hours of travel time.
for budget travel plan, Firefly is definitely not a good idea. so now i am considering between train, or airasia to get to Hat Yai first. reason i pick Hat Yai is because i have done a little comparison, and flight fare to Hat Yai is the cheapest so far in comparison with other neighboring city like Krabi, Phuket and Surat Thani.
