it was a couple of week ago, friends and I had a day trip to Perak, we covered Ipoh, Taiping, Kuala Kangsar, Kuala Sepetang and a stay at Cameron, all for the cause of good food. yes we travel for food :D
to be honest, this was my first trip in Malaysia. of course i have been in Perak before, but that was waaaay long ago when i was just a kid.
when we first arrive, Kuala Kangsar was the first destination, we had a nice breakfast eating Pau and Mee Goreng with Barley ice. i just cant figure the name of the kopitiam, but it is located at jeti, near the istana area. oh yes you can find pasar tani there too. friend told me the kopitiam has no name. owh really?
read on for more pics!
this pau if you havent taste it, you better do cause it’s awesome. we were a group of 4, and guess what, 1 of us tapau 4 Pau to have it eaten along the trip, although she knew it was a food trip which means we’re gonna have lots of food throughout the day. lucky she managed to finished it all, but only the inti haha.
after the breakfast aka second breakfast of the day (we first had breakfast at Bkt Jelutong before depart in the early morning), we took a moment to enjoy the view of the Perak river, then walk to Istana or rather called Muzium diraja Perak. yellow in color, this is the one i saw in iklan Adabi!
that was breakfast, but it was already noon when we decided to leave Kuala Kangsar.. so we skip Lunch and shoot straight to Taiping. oh, we had a stop at one of Giant supermarket in between the to places, but i can barely remember. all i knew, i had a nice stop at white coffee :)
Taiping! and no we didnt go to the zoo but Taiping Lake Garden. gosh never been in such a place with great landscape! with dslr in hand, friends, we just cant stop and stare..
Taiping people, i really envy the landscape you have there!
then, the stomach started to cryyy… yes we need food. the next destination was somewhere urm… owh i dont remember! anyway, this is one of the best you should try whenever you are in Perak. it’s called Kuey Teow DOLI. pricey, but best!
when we arrived, i was not happy to see the restaurant full. yes full. but hey there was one empty table ready for us! haha.
it was not a school holiday, not weekend and not even lunch hour but the restaurant was full after we have placed an order. we spend about an hour or so and the restaurant still full. customer came and leave, the moment it’s empty there was always new customer coming in.
the moment the kuey teow arrived in front of me, i was impressed looking at the size of it, double the size or more than what we have in Klang Valley. and when i taste it, it was simply delicious! oh i felt great to have taste such a kuey teow, because to be honest, i never like it before, heheh..
did i say it’s pricey? RM8 per plate for one. but really, try it and you will love it!
right after Kuey Teow DOLI, we then head over to Kuala Sepetang in search for Mee Udang. i was quite amazed to have found a road where along the way, people are selling Mee Udang, i guess more then 15 restaurants can be found there! but the one we’re looking for was waaaay too far you can almost give up to look for it. it was located at the end of the road, almost sesat in search for it! but after having it, it was truly delicious :D and worth the time and money we spent
i just love the day. and it was 6pm. time to get some rest, goodbye Perak for a short while, hello Cameron!
right after we have arrived, of course we can never missed dinner! and the next day, scones are already on the list! and the scones we had was great, a home made one.
Cameronian was the name of the place where we had our scones for breakfast. and of course we are in Cameron, how can we missed Strawberries?
after the breakfast and a stop for strawberries, we head back to Perak and this time for shooting session at Kellies Castle!
and then just before we leave Perak and head back to home, we there was one last destination for another food. sorry but i dont remember the location, in Perak still..
and the Mee Kari is nice too. i was confused if that was Mee Kari or Yong Taufu, cause it has both in it!
that was the trip, Perak i will repeat this trip, prepare us more great food!
next trip? well, went for Melaka early June and Jonker Street has a great food.. just wait for the next post ;)
